Hello Democrats:

I’d like to tell you about an actual data center horror story that’s happening right now in my neighborhood.

This is civil rights attorney Anthony Ramirez. One day earlier this year, my neighbors woke up to the sound of construction. It was a massive data center under construction right in the middle of our neighborhood!

There was no notification, no neighborhood meetings, and no explanation of the health, environmental, or noise risks. The developers had managed to sneak through approvals without notifying the neighborhood. Worse still, our local elected officials stood by idly while this was happening.

When I found out about this, I joined a neighborhood group that is opposed to the data center and agreed to provide volunteer legal representation. We’re now doing everything possible to get answers and stop this data center. Of course, it’s very difficult to stop a project after a permit has been issued.

We must demand accountability for this debacle. How did this happen? Follow the money. Here’s what I found out. The City Councilman took a large contribution from the lobbyist representing the developers. I filed an ethics complaint against him and asked for an investigation.

My opponent in this race, Patty Contreras, took money from lobbyists, unions, and Big Business PACs that directly benefit from data centers.

This isn’t right.

I’m running for the Arizona Senate to prevent these types of abuses and clean up our corrupt political system. I’m running as an Independent (NOL) because I don’t want to report to political bosses and special interests.
